![]() I was under the impression that standard SG is hard on aluminum but 1) it's diluted and 2) it's a quick scrub, not a soak. Wash the mag body, floor plate, and spring in a diluted Simple Green solution. Toss the old followers in a bag (what am I going to do with 100 black followers when I'm done? I don't know.). Your springs should be fine (I pulled springs that were 30 years old in some cases that still looked and measured great) but go over those too and make sure they aren't damaged, corroded, or overly short. Check that the floor plate seats well and inspect the lips for cracks, burrs, bends, etc. Check whether or not the magazine drops free from the lower(s) you plan to use. This won't tell you definitively that the feed lips aren't bent but it'll at least give you a data point. Load the magazine to 30, make sure it actually loads all the way and you aren't missing a dent in the body or something. You can make all the difference in someone's life.
